Hello, wrold
”This time would be different. This time he really meant it.”
This is a misquote — an apparently false memory I have from somewhere in Douglas Adams’ Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series. The thing is, I can’t find mention of it, so either I’m not close enough, I’ve completely made it up, or it’s from something else.
Which is odd, because I can hear Peter Jones (that one, not that one) as the voice of the book saying it in my brain. But the quote is timely, so I’m running with it.
I often create a new web presence when I start a new job. Fresh starts and all that. They don’t tend to last, but this time will be different — I really mean it. That’s because I do have a new job, and it’s a job I’m extremely pleased to have landed. Now isn’t the time to talk about it, though I will. But it is an excuse to finally build a proper work-adjacent home for my word things on the internet.
I should add that the new job still leaves a nice amount of space for other writing and communications-type things, so I’ll continue to weave with those threads. Do holler if there’s words fun to be had.
In the coming weeks I’ll be writing new things and finding a home for old things in an effort to build a collection of (hopefully) useful thoughts about the world of human-centred writing and communications, as well as a home for some of my actual writings (the ones I’m remotely pleased with, at least), and day-to-day notes.
Hopefully that will do by way of introduction. Let’s see how this goes.
By the way, wrold in the title is a different misspelling. It’s a running joke which, like most of my jokes, is for my own amusement . This one has been going for years.
